Abstract: Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi (1207–1273 CE) is a unique creator in Persian literature. The central inspiration and core of his work is love. In Rumi’s view, love is not merely a human emotion or a romantic feeling; rather, it is the fundamental creative force of the universe and the primary means of humanity’s spiritual elevation. Rumi’s philosophy of love is deeply intertwined with his Sufi worldview. In his works, love takes the form of ishq-e haqiqi (divine love), which frees a person from worldly attachments and leads them toward union with the Absolute. According to Rumi, through love one can transcend the limits of the ego and reach closeness to universal truth. This love awakens the unconscious within human beings and, through spiritual practice, creates the possibility of realizing ultimate truth. Love functioned simultaneously as a driving force and a liberating power. It became established as a universal philosophy for the ethical and spiritual upliftment of human life, continuing to illuminate human thought throughout the ages. This article attempts to explore theoretical and spiritual love in the poetry of Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi.
